FedEx Asked for a TSCA Form — What Does It Mean and What Should I Do?
A TSCA form (declaration in compliance with the Toxic Substances Control Act) is a document required by U.S. Customs to confirm that imported items comply with American environmental regulations.
If FedEx requests that you complete a TSCA form, please forward the email to the MUSUBI KILN Concierge Team at info@musubikiln.com, and we will handle the process on your behalf.

What will happen if I refuse customs clearance procedures or reject the delivery?
If the recipient refuses to complete customs procedures or declines to pay customs duties or local import fees, the order will be treated as canceled by the recipient.
In such cases, all related costs, including return shipping fees, customs handling charges, and any other incurred costs, will be deducted from the refund amount.
Please note that once a shipment has departed Japan, all customs clearance and import procedures are handled exclusively by the destination country's authorities. As a result, any delays caused by customs inspections or import processes are beyond our control and cannot be compensated for or refunded by MUSUBI KILN.
To help avoid these situations, we strongly recommend reviewing your country’s import regulations and duty policies before placing an order.

Can I specify delivery date and time?
Unfortunately, we are unable to accommodate requests for specific delivery dates or delivery times.
Once your order ships, you will receive an email with your tracking information. You will also receive email updates whenever the tracking status changes.
For security reasons, a signature is required upon delivery. If you are not available at the time of delivery, the package may be held at the nearest post office or delivery facility. In that case, please contact the carrier directly to arrange redelivery or pickup.
Please note that delivery to P.O. boxes is not available.

How can I check the tracking number or courier?
Once your order has been shipped, you will receive a shipping confirmation email from MUSUBI KILN.
By clicking the “View your order” button in that email, you can check your delivery status in real time. The tracking number is also listed just below the button.

The Create/Update Importer Identity Form (CBP Form 5106) is used to create or update importers' unique identification information in CBP's systems.
Please note that this form is only necessary for customers shipping to the United States.

All orders shipped to the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, and the European Union are Delivered Duty Paid (DDP).
This means that all customs duties and import taxes are already included, and the price displayed at checkout is the final amount you will pay.No hidden fees and no unexpected charges upon delivery.
Effective Dates of Customs Policy Changes
United States:
Starting August 22, 2025 (Japan time), all shipments to the U.S. transitioned to Delivered Duty Paid (DDP).
United Kingdom and Canada:
Starting November 6, 2025 (Japan time), all shipments to the U.K. and Canada transitioned to DDP.
European Union:
Starting June 29, 2026, 6:00 PM (Japan time), all shipments to the EU transitioned to DDP.
Orders placed before these respective dates are subject to the previous policy, under which customs duties and import taxes were the customer’s responsibility.

Will I be charged customs fees?
Please be aware that, for destinations outside our Delivered Duty Paid (DDP) regions (the U.S., U.K., Canada, and the EU), the customer is responsible for paying any customs fees applied to their order and for providing any documents required by customs in the country of receipt.
These costs include the sales tax in the country of receipt (applied to the total order value), duties on the cost of the products, and any handling fees applied by the shipping provider.
DHL and FedEx usually send an invoice a few days after delivery, whereas EMS (JP Post) generally charges the required sum at delivery.
We ship internationally from Japan, and depending on your country’s import regulations, you may be subject to customs duties or taxes upon delivery. (This does not apply to the U.S., U.K., Canada, and the EU, where duties and taxes are already included in the price — see below.)

We ship to the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, and the European Union on a Delivered Duty Paid (DDP) basis.
This means that all customs duties and import taxes are already included in the price.

As of August 22, 2025 (Japan time), we switched to DDP (Delivered Duty Paid) for shipments to the United States. Orders placed before that date remain under the prior terms, where customs duties and import taxes are borne by the customer.As of November 6, 2025, 6:00 PM (Japan time), we switched to DDP (Delivered Duty Paid) for shipments to the United Kingdom and Canada. Orders placed before that date remain under the prior terms, where customs duties and import taxes are borne by the customer.
As of June 29, 2026, 6:00 PM (Japan time), we switched to DDP (Delivered Duty Paid) for shipments to the European Union. Orders placed before that date remain under the prior terms, where customs duties and import taxes are borne by the customer.
For our customers in Australia:
Orders below $1000 AUD are considered 'low value imports' by Australian customs. As of 01 July 2018, customs duties may apply to any goods imported from overseas by consumers in Australia.

For our customers in Mainland China:
We ship via EMS. EMS is rarely stopped by customs, but if it is subject to inspection, you will be charged taxes.
Instead of import duties and value-added tax, a tax called the personal postal articles tax (行邮税) is applied. The tax is 13%, 20%, or 50% depending on the item. For tableware, it should be 1,3% of the price.However, this is often changed and cannot be guaranteed. Tax is exempted if the tax amount is less than CNY 50.
Import price limits are also regulated, and purchases should be made within the following limits.- Purchase limit per purchase: CNY 5,000
- Annual purchase limit: CNY 26,000
